IPR and New Media
We are pleased to announce that our website now has a section on IP and New Media by two specialists in IP law, Christine Reid and Paul Northwood of Northwood Reid Solicitors.
In the form of questions and answers, Christine and Paul look at some of the issues raised by members of South East Media Network. This is not a general overview of intellectual property rights - that can be found elsewhere on the internet. Nor is it a comprehensive guide to intellectual property rights in the context of new media. By answering real questions raised by people actually working in new media, Paul and Christine give you some useful, practical pointers, rather than a theoretical overview of intellectual property law.
Please take a look and let us have your feedback.
Digital Content Knowledge Network
'Digital Content Knowledge Network' for the South East, it's a way for both large and small companies to find out what relevant research the universities are working on and to find the right partners to collaborate on commercialising the IP. Launched in October 2006, SEMN have facilitated two community events resulting in significant new relationships, the growth of special interest groups providing an aditional focus for commercial collaboration and the opportunity to obtain UK and EU source funding.
Digital Content Knowledge Network - Special Interest Groups - The network has identified SIGs for digital inclusion; broadcasting and digital communications; gaming; ageing society; health and assitive living; and on-line communities. To have impact and success, these groups will require the collaboration and fusion of three strands of core technology - digital production, software and enabling technologies. A report for each SIG is posted here.
