Wired Sussex helps The Skiff sail into a bigger port

Wired Sussex is pleased to announce that it has invested in Brighton based co-working and events space The Skiff (www.theskiff.org <http://www.theskiff.org> ), taking a 50% stake in the business. This investment has enabled The Skiff to expand into larger premises in Gloucester Street; right in the heart of Brighton’s buzzing North Laine area.

The Skiff has been providing workspace to freelancers and small businesses as well as facilitating events, workshops and meet-ups in Brighton for around 18 months. It takes the best elements of a coffee shop (social, energetic, creative) and the best elements of a workspace (productive, functional) and combines them to give independent workers the chance to have their own, affordable space.

Phil Jones, Managing Director of Wired Sussex said, “We are really delighted to be able to support the expansion of The Skiff in this way. It delivers a truly valuable service to those working in the digital, media and creative areas in a style that is really appropriate for our sector. It has built a great reputation in a short time and Wired Sussex looks forward to helping it succeed in its new home.”

Jonathan Markwell, founder of The Skiff said "It's fantastic to have the support of Wired Sussex, it wouldn't have been possible to make such a smooth transition to our new space without them. Their support of the digital industry in Sussex has made all sorts of wonderful things happen in our community over the years. We're now looking forward to all the new opportunities that will come from having a physical hub for the wider digital community in and around Brighton."

The Skiff’s new premises at 6 Gloucester Street are roughly twice the size of their previous offices and will enable it to provide additional and improved facilities to co-workers and enhanced space for event and workshop hosting.
